Patricia Thomazo

Patricia Thomazo is an Amsterdam based designer whose name has become synonymous with exuberant and graphic design mixing bright and vibrant colors with a natural imagery’s inspiration. Her love for nature and industrial techniques like laser cutting take shapes into innovative jewellery.

After completed a degree in Industrial design at Olivier de Serres in Paris and a degree in jewelry design at the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, Patricia Thomazo decided to continue designing jewelry under her brand name Pop-a-Porter, that she created in 2009. ‘Pop-a-porter’ is a contraction of ‘Pop Art’ and ‘Prêt-à-porter’.

– ‘Pop’ (art) stand for the use of pop colors: bright, vibrant and out of touch with reality. For its graphical qualities and of course for the use of industrial techniques, like screen printing and laser cutting, allowing reproduction and creation of mini-series.
In this direction, you’ll find the ‘botanical’ collections, where Nature is used as a source of inspiration, for its inexhaustible source of incredible diversity of shapes, sizes, and colors. Nature is turned into her pop, colorful, urban world. The reinterpreted illustrations take shapes into ‘mini’ wearable art pieces. Patricia uses unconventional materials like felt, Plexiglas or wood that she shapes with her favorites techniques, the laser cutting or the screen printing, to produce unique or very limited pieces. These pieces of jewelry are for the bold & avant- gardists wearers & collectors. The botanical pieces can be found in contemporary jewelry galleries.

– (Prêt) ‘-a-porter’ stand for the ready-to-wear aspect ( but not getting unnoticed ), for the more ‘classical’ jewelry. Pieces that are recognizable as jewelry in term of sizes and materials, like glass / wooden beads and chains. Everyday jewelry to accessorize your outfits. In this direction, you’ll find the ‘abstract’ collections. Pieces where the colors, forms, and composition are the primary ingredients to create bright & playful accessories that the creative with an eye for colors & details love to wear. These pieces fit best into shops or concept stores.
